Employment

Teller - Meal Plan Office - University of Arizona
Jan 2004 - August 2006

The meal plan office is the managing facility for the university's mean plan system. While I was there, I engaged customers daily in receiving cash that is exchanged into credit in the meal plan system. During the summers and start of semesters, I would also educate both students and parents on the system and its benefits. I was also the first contact for customer issues when problems come up. On the side, I also performed some technical support activities involving the office.

Computer Lab Administrator - University of Arizona Management Information Systems Dept.
August 2006 - June 2007

The Mark Hoffman E-Commerce Lab is a computer laboratory that was created using grant funding to provide a hub for e-commerce types of research. During my tenure there, I mostly performed system administrator types of duties, involving server and desktop maintenance of the more than 15 servers located there. The servers hosted a wide variety of operating environments, including Windows Server 2003, Red Hat Linux and Ubuntu Server. We also had a VMWare ESX server installed. Other assorted duties included managing the MSDN Academic Alliance account, granting students access to the computer lab and assisting teachers who would use our technical classroom to host classes that needed a projector and desktop workstations for students to follow along with presentations. Unofficially, I also did some technical support for students in the business college who would come in with a myriad of software-related issues.

Senior Retail Sales Representative - CompUSA
June 2007 - February 2008

Following my graduation and receipt of my bachelors degree, I served as a senior retail sales representative for CompUSA. My primary duties were to assist customers in finding both products and solutions to their computer-related issues. In addition to products, I also sold our shop's repair services, which would cover anything from standard computer repairs to value-added services (antivirus, checkups, junk removal, etc.) on both new and current installations. My particular areas of interest were the computer hardware and laptops sections.

Computer Lab Administrator - University of Arizona Management Information Systems Dept.
August 2008 - June 2009

Following a request, I returned to the Hoffman E-Commerce Lab as a computer lab administrator, though as a graduate teaching assistant instead of an undergraduate student helper. My duties remained the same, though due to some changes, there was less student activities involved and more server maintanance. I also did some light database administration (in Oracle 9i) for several classes. I was also involved in the website revamp and deployment of Drupal as the new content management system for the Hoffman E-Commerce Lab's website (currently still up as of this writing). Part of this task involved retheming the website for Drupal compatibility. I also installed a new scheduling system for reserving time with the lab conference room and technical classroom, which allowed students and faculty to make reservations by themselves, instead of requiring an administrator to write them in. This also included making a video tutorial on how to register and reserve in the system.

Graduate Teaching Assistant for Dr. Roberto Mejias - University of Arizona Management Information Systems Dept.
August 2008 - June 2009

Alongside my work as a computer lab administrator, I also served as a graduate teaching assistant for Dr. Roberto Mejias, a security researcher for the University of Arizona MIS Department. I was the graduate teaching assistant for three classes: "Privacy, Information Security, and Risk Analysis", "Project Management" and "Using and Managing Information Systems" (the last one was not done in any official capacity, but more upon occasional request by the instructor). My duties included tasks like assisting students in their work, grading student assignments, putting together materials for the teacher, doing research for new information on class topics and performing demonstrations on information security techniques.

Director of Support - National Provider Support Services
June 2008 - Present

I now currently serve as the director of support for National Provider Support Services, a startup company specializing in IT solutions for healthcare providers.
